Both Sickles and Knollwood Schools have I&RS committees, which we refer to as our Fair Haven Tiered System of Supports (FHTSS) committee, which
are comprised of teachers, administrators and student support staff
personnel such as guidance counselors and Child Study Team members. The
function of the FHTSS committee is to help teachers develop
strategies and interventions when a child is experiencing academic,
social, emotional and/or health related difficulties in school. Teachers
consult with the principal and parents prior to requesting an I&RS
meeting. Once a meeting occurs, parents and teachers are provided with a
list of interventions to be implemented. Follow-up meetings may also be
scheduled to determine the effectiveness of the interventions. FHTSS committees provide a vital role in our schools and help to create a
more successful school experience for students.
